Modular BV is an industrialized engineered timber construction system developed by the UNA studio, Barbara and Valentim, by Fernanda Barbara and Fabio Valentim, in partnership with Crosslam and executed by Abaeté Construtora e Incorporadora.

The system is based on prefabricated modules in CLT and glulam eucalyptus from certified reforestation, produced in a controlled environment and dry-assembled on-site. The process reduces waste, increases cost and time predictability, and makes construction feasible in remote or environmentally sensitive locations. Compared to traditional high-end construction, Modular BV can reduce costs by up to 20% and shorten construction time by up to four times.

Two versions, multiple configurations

The system is available in two versions. The Modular BV 2A system caters to a wide range of contexts and programs, with modules for bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, offices, balconies, laundry rooms, and garages combinable in configurations of two or three modules, up to two-story complexes with internal patios and swimming pools, which can be arranged in a line, in an L-shape, in a T-shape, or around a central patio. The Modular BV 5.5, on the other hand, was developed for humid tropical climates, with 5×5 meter internal modules, generous eaves, and a top window frame for permanent cross-ventilation.

The facade options, with natural or stained wood slats and corrugated metal panels in different colors, guarantee a unique language for each project without compromising spatial quality. With each new application, the Modular BV reaffirms its efficiency as a replicable system and its versatility by never producing a single, unique solution.

The system has already been applied in the Modular Bahia, a residence on the southern coast of Bahia, presented at the Monsoon Architecture Festival 2025 in India. and at Casa Daia, a boutique hotel that opened in 2025 in Ceará – both located in remote areas with high environmental sensitivity.
