Casa Daia is a boutique hotel inaugurated in 2025 in Barra dos Remédios, on the west coast of Ceará, with bungalows designed by the UNA studio barbara and valentim to promote regenerative tourism on a former 220-hectare farm. The development coexists with mangroves, dunes, riverbanks, caatinga vegetation, and coastal forest—a rare overlapping of ecosystems that guided every design decision.
The four bungalows, approximately 90 m² each, were built in existing clearings, on shallow foundations and elevated decks that preserve soil permeability and avoid vegetation suppression. Studies of insolation and ventilation guided the positioning of each volume, ensuring thermal comfort without mechanical systems. Balconies, eaves, and large openings establish a continuous relationship between the interior and the landscape.
Built using the Modular BV system, with CLT made from reforested eucalyptus, prefabricated and dry-assembled on-site, the bungalows feature photovoltaic energy, rainwater harvesting, agroforestry, and waste management. The project prioritizes labor from the neighboring communities of Pescada Nova and Praia Nova, reinforcing its commitment to the territory and its people.
