The exhibition Everyday Life, Imagination, and Landscape: Galeria Estação, 20 Years celebrates the journey of Brazilian artists who, for a long time, remained on the margins of the institutional art circuit. Mostly self-taught and from modest backgrounds, they developed their creations far from major urban centers, building a unique visual universe inspired by their life experiences, popular traditions, and spirituality.
To bring the public closer to these artists, the exhibition features black-and-white portraits of the creators—many of whom have already passed away—alongside brief biographies. The show presents a significant collection of paintings and sculptures by eight artists working within the field of so-called “folk” or “non-academic” art, all part of Galeria Estação’s collection. In addition to their historical value, the works address themes such as rural labor, popular festivities, and the relationship between human beings and nature.
At the opening event, Neymar Dias, a violeiro and multi-instrumentalist, and Toninho Ferragutti, accordionist, composer, and arranger, will perform music from their latest album, Festa na Roça II. The repertoire includes original compositions as well as classics of música caipira, celebrating the richness and tradition of the genre.
