The exhibition Axs Nossxs Filhxs (To Our Children) presents intimate domestic scenes in which people share moments of reading, rest, and affection. The artist D.C. (Lia de Castro) employs vivid colors and geometric forms to portray instances of proximity and introspection.
By depicting her peers in moments of solace—through reading, painting, writing, and sexual practice—she encourages alternative perspectives on black bodies and invites the decolonization of perception concerning the intersections of affection, sexuality, race, class, and gender in a structurally racist society.¹
